About Jesty

Jesty was awarded her Master of Philosophy in Biostatistics and Demography from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai. She is the recipient of the Professor Sukumar Mukharji Gold medal for securing the first rank during her Masters’ studies at IIPS, Mumbai. Jesty completed her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Madras Christian College, Chennai, securing the Pennathur K Subramaniam Silver Medal for the second rank. Her research interests lie at the intersection of Public Policy, Epidemiology and Biostatistics focusing on improving human well being, particularly as it relates to women and child health.

Causes and Consequences of Hysterectomy: Trends in India and Australia

Hysterectomy, the surgical removal of the uterus, is the most frequently performed surgical procedure in women after caesarean delivery in most countries. This project will investigate the causes and consequences of hysterectomy in India and Australia using secondary data.
