Neethu holds a Master of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from T. K. M. College of Engineering, Kollam affiliated to University of Kerala. Her Bachelor’s project focused on preparation of Gasohol using bio-ethanol from sugarcane bagasse and design of batch fermenter which led to her interest in biomass conversion and sustainable technologies. She has done projects in various fields such as biomass synthesis, material characterisation, effluent treatment, modelling of reactor and adsorber.
The production of chemicals and energy from plants is a key alternative to fossil carbon. This project will use technoeconomic analysis to evaluate the potential use of sugarcane, an abundant source of biomass in both India and Australia, to produce a range of high value end products.
