About Satorupa

Satorupa is an urban planner/geographer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Presidency University, a master’s degree in Geography from Jawaharlal Nehru University, as well as a master’s degree in Planning (Urban Housing) from CEPT University.

She has interned with the Housing and Land Rights Network in New Delhi, the Urban Liveability Forum in Mumbai, and has presented papers on spatial planning, urban homelessness and peri-urbanisation at various national conferences.

Satorupa is passionate about research and firmly inclined towards empowering marginalised communities. Her areas of interest involve sustainable planning and policy making. She believes in an inclusive and participatory approach where equity and access constitute the two most important pillars.

Project details

Examining the resilience of communities to fire

This project will analyse the resilience of communities vulnerable to fire hazards. With a specific focus on studying the resilience of communities with different vulnerability profiles, the aim of the project will help to inform policy and resource allocation to improve fire safety outcomes.
